Introducing Clauthbound

Hello, folks! Today I'm pleased to release our 17th typeface and the first of 2026. It's one steeped in literary tradition combined with my penchant for slightly analog, warbling letterforms.

Clauthbound is a gently-stressed, display sans inspired by the foil-stamped, cloth book covers from the early-mid 20th century. I was envisioning gold pressed into dusty fabric books, with its slightly worn corners from decades of printing. It's a friendly typeface that merges classy with character—great for vintage-inspired posters, film titles, invitations, classic novels, etc.

The font also includes over 40 arguably-random icons that would feel at home on those mid-century covers. These are carefully-considered, simple marks that are designed to work perfectly with the letterforms. You can even design an entire deck of playing cards using the fonts alone (and maybe we will! ;-)

Clauthbound comes in three weights: Regular, Semibold, and Bold. Upper and lowercase, numerals, punctuation, diacritics with expanded language support, as well as the icon set, some alternate characters and a few ligatures.

You can purchase a Clauthbound license today—or better yet, join our Secret Club™ and get the new font along with all 16 of our other typefaces plus future ones (and other perks!) for just $60 bucks per year. Cancel anytime. Keep whatever fonts you download.

That's all for now—I hope you enjoy the new font and see you back here on Friday for our regularly scheduled Studio Notes™ ✌️

Cheers!
