Studio Notes #96
Grand risings, my friends. Here are this week’s Studio Notes™—quick bits delivered to you each Friday.

Coral Pixels is a new color font that's inspired by “subpixel rendering techniques”. I can't tell if I love this, or dislike it :) Either way, it's a neat idea, and this one works especially well at large sizes.

Charles Ritchie has been keeping sketchbooks since 1977, and the way he's weaved his watercolor art around notes and sketches into something so visually rich is super inspiring. There are a few of his books scanned in here, and it's worth navigating through them and enlarging. It reminds me of how valuable an analog archive of a life's work can be.

Floor796 is a giant, animated GIF world created by a single artist, who has been adding to it continuously since 2018. Pan around and there are endless scenes from the gigantic space station, pop culture characters, etc. The dedication to the isometric camera angle and primitive GIF tech for so many years here, is commendable. This week's design inspiration is a large collection of mid-century matchbox labels from Poland. The color palettes, typography, illustration styles, etc. Who knew matchboxes could be so...playful?
This Week’s Poll
What web design trend needs a comeback?
Last week I asked where y’all discover new music, and unsurprisingly streaming services won by a decisive amount. Oddly, I'm so deliberate about what I listen to and when, I'm probably missing out on some discovery there.
Danmade This Week

More Hubano 2.0 testing and tweaking as it's getting close to pre-release shape. I'd love to eventually add lowercase to this one, but will probably hold on that and get the updated weights and fixes out first. Oh, and I added manicules (classic finger pointing glyphs).
