There's a lot to love about Steve Caballero's house tour. He was one of my favorite skateboarders back in the 80s—maybe second only to Tony Hawk himself. Steve had an amazing style and I always loved his dragon decks. It turns out, he's a great artist and has an incredible collection of vintage boards from the 1960s. But really, the big takeaway for me is that I really need one those Caballero deck pool floats.

Speaking of floating boards, these hand-shaped, miniature surfboards caught my eye and made me dig in a little. It looks like they're made exactly like a full-size board, just tabletop-sized. Sanded and glassed by hand. If I surfed (and I have always wished I had) one of these would be on my desk. And if they take commissions, I'd love a Chandler replica from my favorite good/bad surf film, North Shore.

I'm not sure how we missed this one, but Somebody Feed Phil is a great show (Netflix). It follows Phil Rosenthal, the creator of Everybody Loves Raymond (yep, that show) around the world where he eats great food and meets interesting people. It's doing a good job of filling the hole left by Bourdain. Phil's enthusiasm and genuine love for the food and the people he meets are what makes the show great. I think there are 8 seasons to catch up on. Recommended. My only complaint is that Phil went to Modern instead of Mike's Pastry for cannolis while in Boston.

I don't play video games much these days, however, the Switch 2 is beginning to change that. There is the new Mario Kart World, of course—which is worth the price of admission alone. But there's also Donkey Kong Bananza, which has to be one of the most satisfying games I've ever played. There's a story, I guess. And levels? But for me, I just like running around smashing anything and everything. And almost everything in the game is breakable. It's an incredible antidote to the world's current state of insanity. You don't have to take my word for it, as IGN gave the game a perfect 10/10 score.

What are you working on?

I've been working on oblique styles for Turbeau, which is moving ahead...rapidly. A font named Turbeau (inspired by Knight Rider) has to have a slanted style. And so, we will do our best.
