Studio Notes #38
Dear, Highly Esteemed Readers. Here's issue #38 of Studio Notes™—quick bits delivered to you each Friday.

I've always admired it, but didn't know that Salvador Dalí designed the original Chupa Chups logo back in 1969. The colors and lettering are iconic, and it was Dalí's brilliant idea to put the lettering inside a yellow daisy shape on the top of the lollipop so that it'd always be visible. Smart. The logo has evolved a bit over the years, but the original DNA from Dalí's vision still remains.

The history of the infamous peace symbol is pretty interesting. Designed by England's Gerald Holtom in 1958, the symbol is inspired by the combination of flag semaphore letters N and D, which stood for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. It's a miracle the symbol was never trademarked and because of that its use was broadened and utilized for civil rights and anti-war protests. I love discovering the history of ubiquitous logos that are easy to take for granted.

Speaking of candy, do I need—or even want—a 3D-printed Tic Tac gun? No. But am I curious about it? Heck yes. The fact that the off-the-shelf container of Tic Tacs acts as an auto-fill "magazine" on top of the gun is rather ingenious. Like paintball but even more painful. And delicious.
🪑
It's a bit pricey (although more affordable than an Eames), but this Millennium Falcon™ Cockpit Rolling Chair looks rather comfortable. Only very subtly geeky. Could be a sneaky way of getting some Star Wars wares past your non-sci-fi-enjoying significant other.

My obsession with making high-quality, screenprinted decals continues. Two new ones added to the shop this week! Helvetica and Times New Roman, which feature our Dragönsteel and brand new Scorekard typefaces, respectively. I also updated the Decal + Mystery Pack to include all 10 of the latest stickers in the bundle—plus extras, which is a killer deal.
I appreciate you giving this issue a read all the way through. Have an amazing weekend and we'll see you back here next Friday.
Cheers,
