Designer and printmaker, Scott Boms, has launched Matter Editions, a studio for his risograph and screen printing experiments, books, zines, etc. Love the site and ethos of “moving slow” in direct response to Silcon Valley’s insane pace and scale.

I enjoyed this Typewriter interview with Jennifer Daniel, an illustrator, designer, author, and “emoji necromancer”. Austin Kleon's typewriter interviews are 10 questions with creative folks, cleverly-illustrated by way of monospaced type ASCII art. It also reminded me that I used to “sign” all my handmade HTML templates with a commented-out ASCII mug of beer at the very bottom of the source like this:

A maker’s mark, if you will. A delicious beverage at the end of a lot of brackets and letters. I do still enjoy typing out HTML & CSS manually.

I really wanted to love Disclosure Day. And for the first 45 mins or so, I was optimistic! But, in the end, it was just...okay. Issues with pace and plot were distracting me from some great, signature Spielberg camera work (the flares!) and the magic of a John Williams score. There was some good acting as well—but it's certainly not my favorite sci-fi alien film, and that's kind of a bummer. ★★½

Congratulations to the New York Knicks, winning their first championship in over 50 years. We happened to be on a family trip to NYC when they clinched the title on Saturday and seeing the city erupt after the win was quite something. It got me thinking though, what, exactly, is a “Knick”? That led me to The Origin Stories of Every NBA Team’s Name.

Aside from doing research on basketball team naming history, I'm adding Regular and Semibold weights to the WIP Kyroh typeface to extend this one a bit. Three weights total! Coming soon.
