As a designer, I’d always been interested in creating type, but turning those designs into a working font seemed impossible. Then a pandemic swept the globe and I spent my quarantine time finally learning how to make a font properly. I’ve enjoyed that journey so much I decided to write about it and share with other potential font-makers.

It’s not an exhaustive tome on the inner workings of letterforms and typographic theory, but rather a casual capture of twenty important lessons I learned along the way. My hope is this little book will be useful to designers and creative folks who’ve been curious about turning their type designs into fonts that anyone can use and enjoy. It seems intimidating at first, but I promise it doesn’t have to be. I cover using Glyphs app, but the concepts are universal.

Like my previous self-published book, this one has mid-century aesthetics and arguably-artistic doodles. Writing, designing, and illustrating these little hardcovers is truly a labor of love.
