Hello, Friend. Here's issue #31 of Studio Notes—quick bits delivered to you each Friday.

The results might be subtle to most folks, but the sheer scale of the recent rebrand of Amazon by London studio, Koto, is impressive. Not to mention the case study itself, collecting all the marks, custom type, and thought that went into such a massive project.

Mesmerized by the process of turning an egg shell into an insanely ornate and detailed piece of art. I'm just happy there are people in the world that can focus this intensely on creating something so remarkable. Purely for the sake of making something beautiful.

Another Marvel movie? I enjoy most of them, but would rather watch something new and original these days. However, I'm glad we decided to take in their latest: Thunderbolts*. I didn't know much going into this, but I didn't expect to be laughing so hysterically at David Harbour's "Alexei". The biggest takeaway for me with this one was how appreciative I felt for Marvel making depression the villain of a super hero movie. I won't say much more to avoid spoiling, but bravo to Marvel for addressing mental health in a very unexpected way—while delivering a well-rounded film that's also just fun. ★★★★½

I've been into magic since I was a kid. Never getting all that good at it, but fascinated nonetheless. I had a roommate when I was 22 that was an actual practicing magician and he taught me a few simple tricks and gave me a few books. I mostly just end up botching the performing of them in a hopefully comical way, but I love learning how the tricks work. That's really the most enjoyable part. I recently came across this horribly-designed site that sells well-designed tricks and purchased a few of them to torture my family and friends. The latest? Conception, which makes it look like can make a coin appear by grabbing pieces of it out of the air. Ask me about it if you see me out in the real world. I promise it'll start off great. And then end with you unintentionally discovering how it's done.

What are you working on?

After evaluating Ghost, I'm now knee-deep into a migration that'll put all the newsletter/blog/membership stuff around here into one central place. It's been fun to dip into code again! So far, Ghost is pretty elegant, with only some minor annoyances. I'm excited to have a space that will make it easier to write and publish in, as opposed to the duct taped solutions I'm currently rocking. More on this soon.

Also! Today is the last day to get 15% any tee or hat in the shop. Use code SPRING at checkout and grab 1 or 3 of the new goods.
