Although it was certainly the most visually amazing film I’ve seen, it’s a bummer that Waking Life wasn’t based on a more engaging plot. I had more respect for the movie after watching the DVD extras — which turned out to be the best part. Watching the raw video shot by Richard Linklater on a Mini DV camera, then watching a demonstration of the software that was used by 30 or so artists who painstakingly painted each scene with a Wacom tablet. I really wished I enjoyed the story more … or I wish there was a story to enjoy.
